Frustrated? Do the work.
Today I was training the snatch, one of the Olympic weightlifting techniques. It's probably the most technical lift you can do. There are so many elements to put together to get it right. I'll be honest it's something I haven't trained in a while for a variety of reasons, but I was proficient enough with this technique once upon a time to coach it. So why do I suck?
Being frustrated with your performance is something that everyone experiences, when you know you can do better. It got me thinking though, why can't I perform as well?
It's because I haven't been doing it. No amount of YouTube tutorials, textbooks or thinking about it is gonna help you get better if you're not actually implementing the techniques. I have nobody to blame but myself, and neither do you. You don't become a better boxer by watching Rocky. You don't become a better footballer by playing FIFA, and you don't become a better weightlifter if you don't lift the damn weight. I know I've got a few things to work on, so I'm gonna work on them.
