Some people think weight lifting makes you bulky, some people think lifting lighter weights doesn’t build any muscle, some people hate lifting weights, some people love lifting weights, some people have never lifted weights... For me: Currently I am incorporating a weight training program with my running. I have a set of 3, 5, and 8 pound weights. I have a set of modifiable weights as well. I personally have not found that lifting weights is making me bulky nor have I found that lifting lighter weights has been useless. Lifting lighter weights has allowed me to focus on my form and it has really improved, I had no idea I was doing some moves incorrectly until I started to focus on how I was doing the move. Even though I’m using lighter weights, (just added in 10lbs today), I’m still noticing much more toned muscles and a lot more strength especially with my core. I feel much stronger while I’m running it isn’t as difficult (when I can breathe #asthma ). I feel more energetic and a lot better overall. Weight training doesn’t have to be scary or intense, it doesn’t have to mean that you will be sore for the entire next week, it doesn’t have to be hard (it should be challenging but doable). The hard part is finding a program that you like and a program that works for you, a place that you like and that works for you (home, gym, garage etc) and a time that works for you and getting started. Be stronger than excuses. Excuses are weak. Everyone has excuses, be different than everyone else. I got my workout in a lot earlier than normal today because I’m watching a bonus toddler for a friend of mine today 😍 burn circuit 2! Done βœ… I pushed myself a bit harder today and used all heavy weights - even for triceps moves! If y’all know anything about me, my upper body strength is like non-existent lol. But I believed I could do it and used 10-12lb weights for triceps! 😱 3 weeks ago I was using 5lb weights! . . . . Today, I also wore purple for a good friend and fellow teammates son. The gym was not working for me. Was paying membership but not going regularly. Was running but was not losing weight. When I hit 200 lbs I said enough is enough! Time to get serious and stop the yo-yo dieting I had been doing over the years. Weight had always been an issue cause I love food and had the best cooks in my family! πŸ˜€. I’ve done A LOT of deep spring cleaning today, had quite a few mimosas in the AM while making brunch for the family and *the last* thing I wanted to do was workout 🀷🏻‍β™€οΈπŸ˜‚ BUT - I got it done βœ…, y’all! Burn circuit 1! In the books! My weight has been going up and down the same 3 pounds for a few weeks now. The plateau is annoying, but I'm not surprised. I've been making more exceptions and letting more processed foods slip into my diet. I think we all go through fluctuations where we're more focused than other times. But I refuse to let this deter my efforts. I'm refocusing myself, I'm moving my body, I'm adding more raw fruits and veggies for snacks, and the scale will keep dropping. Yes, I’m THAT person that can manage to find anyway to hurt myself. I felt just fine otherwise and didn’t want to skip my workout so I made it work for me. I flexed my muscles I was using while using weights to create more resistance. I also used a “sore muscles” roller before and during my workout to help relieve some tension. The past month has been filled with illness in our home and I haven't been getting many workouts in. So, I started intermittent fasting and got my steps in daily. No lbs lost between these photos. I'm happy with the difference that I see. I'm starting week 2 of chalean extreme tomorrow. I'm still weighing in at 211lbs. I did @chalenejohnson #chaleanextreme burn circuit 2 today and I had to keep dropping down to 5kgsπŸ˜‚ I’m trying really hard to use my 7.5kgs when she says to go heavy but I want to have perfect form too!πŸ˜‚ anyway, I tried to do a 10 minute cardio workout after it and I had to stop because my legs just wouldn’t do what my brain was telling them because they were so tired! πŸ˜‚ so thanks #chalenejohnson for pushing me in all areas! She’s the queen of cardio workouts with everything turbo, has an intense weight lifting programme and PiYo which is strength and flexibility, they’re all part of my routine because even if I don’t feel like working out, within 5 minutes chalene has got you excited to work out and that’s magic!! πŸ™ŒπŸ˜„ #chalenejohnson #chaleanextreme #burncircuit2 #lovechalenejohnson #cardioqueen #turbo #turbokick #turbofire #turbojam #piyo #homeworkouts #beachbody #beachbodyondemand
