Felt stiffness in my right shoulder yesterday afternoon and then it progressively got worse to the point I could not sleep. This morning I can barely move my arm. Hopefully it’s not a shoulder bone collapse like i have experienced with my left shoulder - currently feels like one. Look after your health kids πŸ‘ it’s something that’s very difficult to get back. Strength is a necessary condition for athletic performance, professional competence, everyday practality and maybe even health and longevity!

There is no argueing that strength is an absolute necessity when it comes to improving your fitness, whether your training for body composition, performance or just general health,  however focusing on strength alone is not sufficient

Many tend to go tunnel vision when it comes to strength progression, leading to an over emphasis on strength over all other athletic and fitness attributes

Unless you are training for a powerlifting or strongman meet, strength is just one among many other necessary conditions for reaching your goals
.
Identifying the absolute strength demands necessary for your goal or sport is vital, it is then up to you to do your absolute best to exceed them!
.
By all means get as strong as possible, but once you reach the level necessary for your goal, make sure that your continued progress with the barbell does not get in the way of other attributes necessary to your goals
.
If you need to slow down a bit on your strength progress in order to get your running up to par, or to prioritise other skills, then that is simply what it takes to make progress toward your goal.

It is no accident that the Squat, Deadlift, Bench Press, and Overhead Press have become canomical elements of every tried and true strength training system, and will almost always have a place when it comes to my personal strength progressions

basically the same picture as the last post but nevermind πŸ˜… not had the best week, only managed 3x5 85kg deadlifts instead of the planned 5x6, slept weird on Sunday night and now I think I have a trapped nerve in my shoulder so I guess I’m only training legs this week?! In a lot of pain because paracetamol isn’t working, what I need is rest and hot/cold compresses (apparently) 😭 anyone with advice please drop me a DM xoxo

A tasty post-workout Protein smoothie to try: .
1 cup chosen liquid (your choice of: coconut water, nut milk, water, juice)
1 1⁄2 frozen banana
2 cups spinach or kale
Plant based/brown rice protein/hemp hearts (small sprinkles)
1 tbsp. of peanut or almond butter .
Directions: Place all ingredients into a blender and blend on high for at least 60 seconds.

Some might say the changes are minimal. Theyll see a slim girl in the photo on the left and a slim girl in the photo on the right. Probably weighing in close enough to the same. Nothing mind blowing. They wouldnt theoretically be wrong..

A well trained eye, however, will see the subtle recomposition. They will see the more developed deltoids and the overall harder looking body. And if they can spot those differences, theyll probably know what went into making all these small changes happen.. and its a long process involving a lot of commitment and hard work. .

These photos were taken more or less a year apart. On the left, Id just began weight training (probably coming in at around 20/ 20-something % bodyfat). The right was taken a week or so ago, after a slow 9 month muscle growth phase and almost 2 months of dieting (to lose the subsequent fat gain which resulted from that growth phase). Ive LOVED transforming my body. But we arent even HALFWAY through this journey yet.. I read and studied up on the what do you do AFTER the weight loss phase, and this part is almost MORE IMPORTANT than what you do DURING. Totally neglected detail!

In two weeks I get to have my 3 week diet break (vacationing) and then its back to further dieting (perhaps another month and a half/ 2 months, or so). Then onto a very VERY slow and VERY cautious reverse diet. I want to do this right. The reverse diet is almost the biggest part of this journey of mine (towards something of a metabolic rehabilitation and body recomposition).. who knows where I go from there.. Ill probably just continue to maintain my new weight and coast for a while.. save mini cuts for all future holidays and special occasions πŸ’ͺSUPER EXCITING THOUGH!

My inbox likes to fill up with a ton of people who “want” to get in shape but they have an injury- most of the time it’s knee pain. Ladies, you do not need to do squats and jumping lunges to grow your booty! BUTT, you do need to work it more than you work your excuses (see what I did there).

Here’s 9 exercises that you can do (right from home). Add weights and bands if you are feeling frisky! Pick your top ones and perform 4-5 sets, for 12-20 reps, or go crazy and do all of them. Ps. this is only part one, I’ve got another full video with more ideas - stay tuned.
