Nutrifields Pro Pots are excellent for all kinds of growing media!
Shown here is an example of how our Pro Pots can be used for deep water culture (DWC). DWC is generally considered to be media-less, meaning it does not contain a solid substrate.
The plant roots are suspended directly in a reservoir of liquid nutrients, providing the plant with direct and constant access to water and nutrients. DWC is a relatively low maintenance growing technique, which gives gardeners greater control over nutrient supply ensuring their plants reach the maximum potential.
Although DWC is a media-less growing system, clay balls are commonly used to provide support to the plant base and roots. Our Pro Pots have mesh baskets that hold the clay balls around the base of the plant and allow roots to grow freely down into the liquid nutrients. NF Pro Pots can come with a feeder ring which provides even watering around the base of the plant and prevents roots from drying out.
When growing plants in DWC it is important to aim for a water temperature between 16°C (68°F) and 20°C (60°F). Above 20°C the oxygen level in the water starts to drop and microbial growth increases; whereas water below 16°C may trigger a seasonal change in the plant.
So, whether you like to grow with coco, soil, or DWC our Pro Pots are a great choice for you.
