I grew up in an environment where women were always the enemy; at a young age, I was unable to discern that what I was being taught was the foundation for insecurity and self-hatred. As I transitioned into my late teens and early twenties, I started disliking the woman I was becoming, and I had to sit back and figure out exactly why. What I realized was that I allowed myself be defined by my insecurities. I felt that I had to make people like me or I would be alone, and the best way for me to do that was to make myself more appealing than the other women around me. It took me a long time to become empowered in the female I am and let that line shine WITHOUT TRYING TO DULL ANOTHER WOMAN’S LIGHT.

The freedom and happiness that stemmed from this realization changed the trajectory of my entire life. I started looking at other women as allies – my partners in life. I started going out of my way to speak to women; to encourage them, compliment them and build up their power. In doing this, I found my strength. I found out exactly who I am. My entire life I wanted to be skinny. I wanted a smaller waist, I always thought that my butt was too big and wide, my legs were too fat and jiggly. Now that I’m older, and maybe more mature, I realize that thin is not pretty. Thin or skinny rarely has shape. Women can be beautiful in all shapes and sizes, what matters is their confidence, intellect and charisma. With age I’ve realized that I prefer a proportional female body, with curves and shape. If you are 20 and curvy, your body will still look firm. But once you turn 30, all the pretty curves turn into flabby fat and lose its shape. That happens because we lose muscle as we age; our body also produces less collagen to keep our skin firm. What’s the solution? Plastic surgery!! Haha πŸ˜‚ or gym and heavy weights. Abnehmen (oder auch zunehmen) ohne Kalorienzählen? Geht das? Ich bin davon überzeugt davon, dass das sehr wohl funktioniert. Zum Einen findet das Abnehmen nicht nur auf der Waage statt, sondern das oberste Ziel liegt in der Abnahme von Körperfett und/oder dem Zuwachs von Muskelmasse. Ich habe jahrelang akribisch Kalorien gezählt, mich fast täglich gewogen, auf alles verzichtet, was nur ansatzweise ungesund schien. Irgendwann hat es Klick gemacht und mir wurde klar, dass ich lernen muss, genau hinzuhören, was mein Körper braucht. Das ist nicht so einfach und bedarf vieler Experimente, Rückschritte und Zeit!! Aber wenn man lernt, nicht gleich zum Kühlschrank zu laufen, wenn der Magen knurrt oder -umgekehrt- den Hunger mit Wasser trinken zu übergehen, dann ist das ein erster Schritt in die richtige Richtung: βœ…PLANE deine Mahlzeiten, um nicht willkürlich vor Hunger irgendetwas zu kaufen
βœ…Koche vor: Gemüse, Fleisch, Eier, Reis, Nudeln, etc.
βœ…Trinke ausreichend Flüssigkeit (Wasser, ungesüßten Tee, gerne auch MAL einen Kaffee (ich trinke max. 2-3 Becher pro Tag)
βœ…Iss Obst (2-3 Portionen, z. B. je 1 Apfel, Pflaume, Banane) und Gemüse (3-4 Portionen pro Tag, zu den Hauptmahlzeiten und/oder zwischendurch)
βœ…BEVOR DU ZU SÜßIGKEITEN GREIFST: Überlege, ob du Heißhunger hast, weil du zu wenig bzw. über einen zu langen Zeitraum am Tag nichts gegessen hast (6 Stunden und mehr ohne kleine Mahlzeit ist ZU LANG!) βœ…Und dennoch: Wenn du ausreichend gegessen hast und Lust hast auf was Süßes, DANN ISS ES AUCH! Verwehre dir nichts, sondern lerne auch damit umzugehen. Wenn du wiederum die ganze Tafel Schoko verdrücken kannst, dann ist das oft ein Mangel von Mikronährstoffen wie Vitaminen, Spurenelementen, etc.

Anywaays here’s my (embarrassingly) first attempt at pause deadlifts πŸ€ͺ I remember being terrifieeed of deadlifts, I was scared of the form, the movement, the weights - everythinggg. Deciding to actually start incorporating it into my workouts was the best/worst thing ever.

Currently I’m tweaking my form because of my hip problems. My hips fricken suck.πŸ™ƒ
