๐Ÿ’— This post is for all you people who feel self conscious in the gym ๐Ÿ’— . I recently switched gyms to a place that is a bit more expensive (but totally worth the cost) and so the people that go there are a bit more serious about fitness. And I have to admit that it is a little bit intimidating. . At my old gym I was relatively confident. I was one of the most serious fitness people. I was confident in my strength and my physique. . At this new gym, there are people who are clearly physique competitors and competitive power lifters. I’m nowhere near the strongest or most fit. My physique is “average.” There are some badass women in that gym who make me feel inferior—not because they say or do anything to make me feel that way, just because they themselves are so impressive. It has made me question myself and my progress. . So at first, I was intimidated and felt like I didn’t belong. But when I recognized that I was feeling this way, I decided to reframe my mindset. These women are impressive. They are inspiring. They give me something to aspire to. They make me want to keep working to get stronger. They make me want to keep working to shape my body the way I want to. They motivate me to work harder. . The only way to grow is to surround yourself with people who are better than you. People you can learn from. Growth stagnates when you are the best. To become better you have to push yourself out of your comfort zone and into a space where you will be forced to learn.

I recently switched gyms to a place that is a bit more expensive (but totally worth the cost) and so the people that go there are a bit more serious about fitness. And I have to admit that it is a little bit intimidating.
.
At my old gym I was relatively confident. I was one of the most serious fitness people. I was confident in my strength and my physique.
.
At this new gym, there are people who are clearly physique competitors and competitive power lifters. I’m nowhere near the strongest or most fit. My physique is “average.” There are some badass women in that gym who make me feel inferior—not because they say or do anything to make me feel that way, just because they themselves are so impressive. It has made me question myself and my progress.
.
So at first, I was intimidated and felt like I didn’t belong. But when I recognized that I was feeling this way, I decided to reframe my mindset. These women are impressive. They are inspiring. They give me something to aspire to. They make me want to keep working to get stronger. They make me want to keep working to shape my body the way I want to. They motivate me to work harder.
.
The only way to grow is to surround yourself with people who are better than you. People you can learn from. Growth stagnates when you are the best. To become better you have to push yourself out of your comfort zone and into a space where you will be forced to learn.

My squats have definitely come A LONG way!! They are slowing getting easier! Moving a lot of weight is great and all, but my form is the most important. Ive been more concerned with getting a good amount of reps in, rather than stacking a bunch of weight. My squat PR is 150 for 1 rep and i probably couldddd go a little heavier, but i would like a good 6-8 reps with 135 before i even think of going for another PR. I believe my purpose in this life is to help people find self-compassion through movement. . Especially women-we are constantly told to look like this, act like that, buy XYZ product so you can have baby faced skin when in fact you are a mature and wise woman, and it’s beautiful to show that-damnit! . To me, self compassion means being kind and loving when you feel judgement, imperfection and feelings of failure about yourself, rising up. I think most of us have lost the mind body connection given to us at birth by living in this hectic modern-day age. I have learned to love myself MORE by pushing past boundaries through fitness. When I can do a move I couldn’t imagine a year ago, hitting that race pace or lifting up the next set of weight on the rack, it makes me feel like my own hero. My strong glutes are that representation of strength I find internally. . I decided early in this journey that my goals would be determined by not just the scale, but inches, pant sizes, exercise milestones, and progress photos. Today, I got into a pair of jeans that I bought a couple weeks ago because I knew I was close (and they were on sale, obviously.) It's awesome! I'm so proud of myself! And LOOK at this progress pic!!! That being said, I'm not where I ultimately want to be yet. I still struggle with some physical activities because my body weight is not optimal. I want to be able to do multiple pushups and pullups, but I'm just too heavy. With the surrogacy coming up quickly, my ultimate goal (30lbs away currently) isn't going to happen this year, but I BET I can reach my next goal of being under 170! Oh! And I finally found my tape measure today (it had "fallen" into a bin of Legos and got buried) so I will post measurements this week. Honestly, that makes me super nervous. If you've read this far, I applaud your patience, lol! I am so grateful I found this community. I know it was a good workout when I’m drenched in sweat, can hardly move my legs, and want nothing more then a cheeseburger. But there was like 80 people in the gym today (okay so there was like 10, but it’s a very small gym!) and I couldn’t get my videos like normal. Doesn’t mean I didn’t have a killer workout. I constantly have people asking me how tall I am & how much I weigh.. - Although I DO believe the scale is an important tool to use in monitoring progress, it’s definitely not recommended as the ONLY tool!! So I always tell them, it doesn’t matter lol - I have gained 10 pounds however in the past year, some of that has definitely been muscle… But not all of it LOL! And I think it’s super important that we know WHY we are on this health and fitness journey! And I think you should also focus on the other forms of measurement to track your progress! - So use ALL the tools available to you to view how far you have come!! & also, how do you FEEL?!! How is your Gut Health? How is your MindSet? I constantly have people asking me how tall I am & how much I weigh..

Although I DO believe the scale is an important tool to use in monitoring progress, it’s definitely not recommended as the ONLY tool!! So I always tell them, it doesn’t matter lol

I have gained 10 pounds however in the past year, some of that has definitely been muscle… But not all of it LOL! And I think it’s super important that we know WHY we are  on this health and fitness journey! FRENCH TOAST TUESDAY ๐Ÿซ . Ive been a little bit all over the place recently. My skins been terrible, I’ve felt tired and a little grumpy which is unlike me. . Just a little life update, I’ve moved states AGAIN ... Yep! I’m not joking ๐Ÿ˜‚ I got myself an incredible registrar job back up in sunny Queensland and so here I am again ๐ŸŒž But ... the new job came with a rushed 2 weeks ‘pack up my life’ drive half way across the country kind of stressful deal ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I am yet to find a place to live and most of my belongings are in my car for now. But ... I’m making it work because I know the long term goals I have set and this move is going to mean big things for my long term goals and dreams ๐ŸŒŸ . So I’ve been using the week off between moving up here and starting the job to try and settle into a routine and look after myself being the ‘self care’ Queen I am ๐Ÿ˜‚ .
