The grilled stripes on the toasts shows that it's another stove-free packed lunch today! Because none of the gas delivery companies I've called is able to send it before or after work. So yeah. Anyway, I spread the breads with peanut butter this time then layer them with mushroom, baby spinach and sundries tomatoes. Oh, and some mozzarella cheese to make all the ingredients stick together. Happy weekend, everyone!! #YAZeats

I don't believe I've addressed it yet, but I've decided to have another C-section for the birth of our daughter. This was a tough decision that I made not only as a mother and a woman, but also as an informed perinatal healthcare professional. I've had a surprising number of comments and unsolicited but (I'm sure) well meaning advice from people over the last six months regarding my decision - which I came to with the help of my extremely knowledgeable and progressive OB, and the support of my loving husband. My decision was largely based around the trauma I experienced during Elliott's birth and my fourth trimester, and when I booked the surgery I felt a sense of calm and acceptance over the whole ordeal. This was not, contrary to popular belief, the lazy/easy thing to do. "Are you sure you don't want to at least try giving birth?" "You might enjoy actually giving birth" "Are you sure you want to? A C-section isn't really medically necessary" True, I am a good candidate for a VBAC. I was told my success rate is likely 75%, given my history. But all things considered (and considered over again, and researched, and discussed at length) the scheduled C-section was the choice that I believe is right for me and my baby. Words of advice for mothers-to-be: ditch the birth plan, make a birth wish list and realise it's just that - a wish. Things will more often than not go off track and it's ok. Where did this whole failure mentality even come from? C-section? FAIL. Epidural? FAIL. Formula? FAIL. There is no birthing report card! Failure isn't an option because birth isn't something you win or lose. Enjoy every moment of your birth experience that you can, whether you're sleeping through contractions and texting your girlfriends about bitchy nurses, or screaming like a warrior princess in a pool of freaking rose petals. We are all tiger mamas ✊

TAAA DAAAA- heres the other side of baby M’s nursery!!! I found this pie safe when we first moved to Austin for $25 (people in Austin are cray cray)!! We had nowhere to put it but I knew I would find a spot for it someday... but I NEVER thought it would end up in our baby girls nursery or that I’d be pregnant! All this time I thought it would go in my future kitchen and that we wouldn’t have a baby biologically BUT like always, Jesus had a much bigger plan!!! πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ˜ • I dont think I’ll ever be able to explain how thankful I am to be this little girls mama. God has blessed me more than I could of ever imagined. His plan for you is SO big. All you have to do is have faith and trust Him!! Ya know what's weird? Spinach for DESSERT. . . . This is my THIRD serving of spinach today. I had it with my breakfast - scrambled eggs, spinach & tomatoes; I had it with my lunch - veggie burger wrap with cheese & spinach; And I'm now having it with my dessert - my vegan chocolate superfood powder, natural peanut butter, spinach, water, & ice. . . . It's true - if you blend it in with your shake, you can't even taste it! Secret nutrition? HELL yes please. And you know what? If you are a mom out there, I want you to know, you are doing an amazing freaking job ❀️ After over 9 months of nursing Edison, my milk production is finally depleting slowly πŸ˜” I’ve tried milk boosting foods, teas, cutting out coffee, de-stressing, the works and my body just seems to be cutting down. I know that’s totally normal and okay right now. But IM personally having a hard time with it I’ve been his sole food provider his whole life. I think it’s hard for me to imagine supplementing. And we try food everyday but he’s still not too thrilled with much yet πŸ˜‚ And I know if it was another mom or friend of mine, I would tell her that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with formula or whatever you need to do to feed your baby. And I truly BELIEVE that. There is NO shame at all here I think this is more of an emotional thing for me. And I can be super hard on myself. ❀️ So I’ve decided to let this go. Take care of me and Edison and what happens, happens. My body has done an incredible job of feeding him for over 9 months. If I need to use some formula now too, it’s all good. And I know this is just one small hard thing that will happen as I go along being a mom. It will be hard when he gets sick for the first time. Or goes to preschool. This is all part of it ❀️ If you are a mom struggling with breastfeeding, don’t beat yourself up. The two best things after vaginal delivery of baby: immediate skin-to-skin contact & breastfeeding. Skin to skin contact is critically important. This is the moment when mom and dad lay eyes on their baby and baby sees human face for the 1st time. Skin to skin regulates baby’s body temperature, blood sugar, breathing and reduces crying and stress. Furthermore, skin-to-skin allows for skin bacteria from mother to baby. The mother’s body is the natural habitat for baby to adapt to being in the outside world. Skin to skin is also amazing for mom as well. Oxytocin “love hormone” is release and cortisol starts to go down that was released during labor. This is the first stage of falling in love. During skin to skin contact, the baby will smell and search for the mothers breast to establish breastfeed. One thing I really struggle with when I get tired/stressed/anxious....my nutrition πŸ™ˆ Instead of stress eating, I lose my appetite and forget to eat (not a good solution either 😐). I’ll snack here and there and realize it’s 5:00 and I didn’t eat lunch. Wanna know what I had for “lunch” today? A declaration that I hear everyday in my @hypnobabiesofficial_ positive birthing affirmations audio track is “My changing body is radiantly beautiful... and... I accept all of the changes pregnancy brings to me.” Meditating on all things good and positive has contributed to the second half of my pregnancy being so easy and peaceful. I’m seeing the fruit of it in so many ways lately. James and I took lots of pictures this weekend on our babymoon and I had an honest laugh looking at some of the less flattering angled shots and thinking “I feel so much cuter and beautiful than I look!” πŸ˜‚ Because I dont think on the negatives of my ever growing belly, boobs, and thicker thighs, I’ve been caught off guard so many times by the reality that my body has changed SO MUCH. I’ve been practicing being mindful of my thoughts, belief systems and words because of how they impact my emotional, mental and physical health. Real life: hubby had to work late so we did chili’s to go for dinner and I was beyond hungry - so I ate straight from the styrofoam - from door to counter in 3 minutes I was eating. Side salad and margarita chicken with black beans (no rice). Lunch was a piece of lasagna at a work luncheon and it was nothing special. #25weekspregnant #healthypregnancy

After he comes home from playing with fire all day, going to school some nights, currently studying in the other room for his day school tomorrow... he still insists he “helps.” I didn’t have to engrave in his brain that we’re a team and he eats off those dishes, too. Just as I rake and do things outside, I live here too. I remember before we got married, my uncle reminded me marriage is tough, that we’re going to come across things that are hard. And if it’s important to both of you, you will work through it, as marriage is a union. Has it been like this for the past 8 years? Hell no. Talk about tough and bumpy roads. And we’ll have more. But now, he and I both say we’ve never been happier. I feel bad for those who feel just blah, meh in their relations. And you may say, oh just you wait it’ll get boring/whatever. Gosh, I’m sorry. You deserve more. It’s taken a lot of teamwork, compromise, fights, tears, figuring out our circle, to get to where we are now. You guys! I saved this cookie from lunch time, ALLL the way until I got home and after dinner. A coworker’s daughter made these cookies and he brought them in to share. There is something you should know about me: *cookies are my weakness*πŸͺπŸͺπŸͺ! . I did this on purpose. I have found that giving into sugar cravings early in the day only makes me want more, which makes sense because sugar is EIGHT TIMES AS ADDICTIVE AS COCAINE - if I have one cookie, I don’t just want that one, I want 12. Oddly enough though, I’ve found that if I start the day new, it’s not that difficult to control my sugar cravings - until I I have something with sugar. So in a way, this was an experiment - if I wait until later, when I’m home and running out of time in the day, could it prevent me from going off the deep end? 🀷🏽‍♀️ The answer is yes, my friends. Life is all about controlling what you can, letting go of what you can’t, and finding that balance. . Now, yes, I know what you’re thinking - why not just abstain from the holiday cheer altogether? Well, first off, please know that I DO avoid sugar on many occasions. But sometimes, experiencing a little girl’s baking creation and then complementing her (and seeing her smile) brings me joy. Such is life. . So enjoy your Christmas cookies! Especially the peanut butter ones with the Hershey’s kiss in the middle. Just find your way to mind the moderation πŸ˜‰. . You guys! I saved this cookie from lunch time, ALLL the way until I got home and after dinner. A coworker’s daughter made these cookies and he brought them in to share. There is something you should know about me: *cookies are my weakness*πŸͺπŸͺπŸͺ!

I did this on purpose. I have found that giving into sugar cravings early in the day only makes me want more, which makes sense because sugar is EIGHT TIMES AS ADDICTIVE AS COCAINE - if I have one cookie, I don’t just want that one, I want 12. Oddly enough though, I’ve found that if I start the day new, it’s not that difficult to control my sugar cravings - until I I have something with sugar. So in a way, this was an experiment - if I wait until later, when I’m home and running out of time in the day, could it prevent me from going off the deep end? 🀷🏽‍♀️ The answer is yes, my friends. Life is all about controlling what you can, letting go of what you can’t, and finding that balance.

Now, yes, I know what you’re thinking - why not just abstain from the holiday cheer altogether? Well, first off, please know that I DO avoid sugar on many occasions. But sometimes, experiencing a little girl’s baking creation and then complementing her (and seeing her smile) brings me joy. Such is life.

So enjoy your Christmas cookies! Especially the peanut butter ones with the Hershey’s kiss in the middle. Just find your way to mind the moderation πŸ˜‰. .

Today was not my success day. I caved into my coworker’s daughter’s no-bake cookies around 1PM and it was a downward spiral from there. Now I suffer from sugar headaches and remorse (womp, womp ☹️) and I feel like the little kid on Chutes and Ladders who goes down a chute for eating too much candy. Lesson learned βœ”οΈ]]

Throwback Thursday to my last night in Savannah before moving to VT to shack up with this guy. ❣️ We did long distance from Savannah to VT for two and a half years, dating and engaged. 😳 I was so sad to leave a place that I loved tremendously and a life I adored, but in my heart of hearts I knew that HOME was with Dan. 😍 And now, I can’t believe that we are coming up on 9 years together! 😳 We are about to become parents in a few short weeks and we still smile like that together all the time even though we are doing more “adulting” than ever. Every once in awhile (like once a year) I feel confident enough to wear a red lip. I haven't worked out the last 2 days for several reasons...this week is just crazy busy and I've been super sore and feeling lots of pressure so I decided to take it easy. And you know what? Nothing wrong with that! As I get closer to my due date I'm not going to stress as much about getting a workout in each day. A fun little #throwbackthursday 😍🀰 it is amazing how different these two pregnancies have been. I was going to the gym 5 days a week with Isaac but I was just going through the motions 🀷 also, my nutrition was definitely less than stellar. --- When I told people we were expecting baby #2 some of them said "but what about all of your progress" and to that I said, what about it?! Y'all, I may be pregnant but I can still workout, and being in the best shape of my life before hand will pay off in big ways come May πŸ™Œ --- I am one of those crazy people who loves being pregnant. This recipe for a delicious ‘Hummus Dip’ is the perfect place to start! Ingredients β–ͺ️1 x 400g canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed β–ͺ️1 garlic clove, peeled β–ͺ️¼ cup olive oil β–ͺ️½ cup tahini paste β–ͺ️1 lemon, juiced Method: Add chickpeas, garlic, tahini and lemon juice into a food processor.
