It’s #PancreaticAwareness month, and I wanted to share something with you guys.
When I found out my father had stage 4 pancreatic cancer, I spent far too much time researching & questioning how diseases begin.
It didn’t take long before I realized that many chronic metabolic diseases start in the gut.
This lead to me questioning many different aspects of modern medicine & treatment, but my main question was why the hell hadn’t a single doctor recommended any dietitians/ nutritionists or gut healing remedies to my father?
Mind you, they didn’t think twice about prescribing my father over 40 different medications. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yeah, you read that right. Those doctors handed me a PACKET with endless lists of medicines my dad was required to take, and the only mention of food was to make sure the medication was taken alongside food.
Telling you that this infuriates me, is saying it lightly.
I think it’s important that we remember that our bodies are complex systems, and while prescription meds are a short term fix, they are used as a mask for symptoms. It does not make sense to put a cast on a broken arm, if you haven’t reset the bone yet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The first step is to care for the 40 trillion chemists including microbes, fungi, & bacteria that are in your gut working very hard to help you digest your meals, produce nutrients, & protect you from disease! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve been practicing a more holistic approach to my healing over the last 3 months, and I’ve reaped benefits mentally, physically, + emotionally. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are a few things I started with:
☕️ Decreasing inflammation producing foods (coffee, alcohol, sugars, some carbohydrates). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌱 Using plants, roots and supplements as medicine. I even healed a peptic ulcer with licorice root, aloe Vera gel, and fermented veggies!
🍖 I added in bone broth and noticed a significant increased energy, decrease in inflammation/sickness, and overall better skin health.
Swipe to see what my Dad said about the healing foods we implemented in his program. 💜
