#thursdaythoughts πŸ’ inspired by the quote above πŸ‘†πŸ» If we truly embraced this ideology and view motherhood in this light, how different we might actually approach our mothering journey. Perhaps we would look at motherhood from the same perspective as we view childhood. When a child is born, every experience is new. We do not expect them to automatically know how to live in this world. We intuitively know that with the passing of time, nurturing love, and hands on experience, the child will learn, grow, and mature in their own time. We do not expect them to be an expert walker without learning to crawl (or scoot πŸ˜‚). We do not expect them to be perfect sleepers or eaters or talkers...etc. In fact, I would venture to say that their imperfections are what make them so perfect in our eyes. Now let’s flip the script for a moment and apply these same truths to becoming a mom. To me, this idea was incredibly powerful! When a MOM is BORN, we too are emerging into a new and unfamiliar world. We are equipped with our own natural instincts and what we thought was insightful knowledge from others, books, articles etc. but nothing could have ever really prepared us for the beauty and challenges of this rebirth. So WHY in the name of all things holy does the world (and ourselves) expect PERFECTION and EXPERTISE from mamas seemingly from day one? We are on our own journey of growth right along side our child(ren). Each day is a new opportunity for us to learn, mature, and reflect on our experiences. Grace. Grace is what all of us mamas really need. For ourselves and for each other ♥️ P.S. in case you need to hear it today, you are AMAZING, STRONG, LOVING and CAPABLE 😘 . . . #selfcarewithjessi #thrivingmamasraisethrivingchildren #motherhoodintheraw

Begin each week like the possibilities are endless! My kiddo was beyond thrilled to be running wild in the mountain air in this picture, and it made my heart sing! I am always amazed at how much I learn from him versus the other way around. He was care-free, brave, and excited by the endless road in front of him; not scared, uncertain, or hesitant. It was the perfect dose of inspiration for me to start my week embracing the possibilities instead of dwelling on the expectancies. Happy #mindfulmonday to all of you! Rest well and look forward to tomorrow as the gift it truly is!

Truth bomb on this #selfcaresunday. In this day and age there seems to be so much glorification of the “hustle” mentality, that we are burning ourselves out before we can even reach the goals we are pushing to reach. Or, even if we reach them, it isn’t something we take the time to pause and celebrate because we MUST keep pushing for the next best thing. Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge advocate for working hard for what you dream of, BUT there are NEEDED times of quiet stillness that requires our hustling shoes to be hung up. Take some time this coming week to resist that urge to “hustle with your whole heart” and just breathe...you’ll be surprised (and relieved) to find you are more successful for it ♥️ What is your #antihustle goal for this week?!

We have been battling the crud in our house for just under a week and it has not only been a physical battle, but a mental one too! With the holiday coming up, I have to consciously remind myself that some days are meant to be rest days. I can better care for my loved ones and rock what I love doing when I’m not hacking up a lung and sneezing in everyone’s face lol The worse possible pressure we can place on ourselves is to always be “on” πŸ’― of the time. The truth is, sickness is a sign that your body and mind have been working overtime, it is a wake up call for us to rest, recoup, and tend to our physical wellbeing for a moment. This can be sooooo challenging for us moms for so many reasons (insert screaming toddler and a mile-long to-do list). But give yourself some grace, and model the care for yourself, that you would want for your child when they are sick. All will be right in the world again soon. I promise ♥️ . . . . . . . . #selfcarewithjessi #thrivingmamasraisethrivingchildren #sickdays #rest #mamaneedsrest #unplug #healthiswealth #wisdomwednesday

Date night with this stud! Right before the head cold yuckiness plagued our house...the hubs and I went to dinner and a movie. It was a wonderful night, reconnecting and a grounding reminder how important it is to remain active and engaged in your marriage. Complacency can sneak it’s way into our lives so effortlessly can’t it? Tending to that relationship in a conscious and active way is key! Notice when you are tending to your own self-care habitually, how that influences your relationship with your SO. For me, I notice I am able to focus on and appreciate the little things my husband does for me and our son everyday. I am feeling beyond blessed in love this week (running nose, cough, and all)! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #selfcarewithjessi #thrivingmamasraisethrivingchildren #dateyourhusband #mancrush #myotherhalf #relationshipgoals #allyouneedislove #momanddadtime #ichooseyou #couplegoals #myhusbandishot

And what a beautiful thing when they come together to serve God πŸ™πŸ» I strive to show my kiddo this truth as often as I can so that he might understand it so much sooner than his mama did. I’m imperfect at it, but I know that he is watching and internalizing everything around him. I want to make those impressions as full of love, kindness, and appreciation for oneself and others as I possibly can. . . . . #lovethyself #lovethyneighbor #selfcarewithjessi #thrivingmamasraisethrivingchildren #selfcare #raisingkindness

Here’s my little piece of advice for you on this #selfcaresunday. The next time you are holding your child, and are showering them with affection, encouragement, comfort, and love...I want you to capture the feeling you have and hold it in your mind. β €β € The next time you are feeling down on yourself, or beating yourself up, revisit that moment and envision that you are wrapping yourself up in that embrace. β €β € Speak to yourself those same words because Mama, you are worthy of all of your love too ♥️ β €β € #selfcarewithjessi #thrivingmamasraisethrivingchildren

"To experience peace does not mean that your life is always blissful. It means that you are capable of tapping into a blissful state of mind amidst the normal chaos of a hectic life. " – Jill Bolte Taylor Enjoy life’s beautiful, simple moments. this was my view out my window this morning as I enjoyed my coffee and read some inspiring passages. Pause, take notice of what nourishes you even in moments of darkness or overwhelm. You will begin to see the light within you. #nofilter #selfcarewithjessi #thrivingchildrenareraisedbythrivingmamas

We did it!! We made it halfway through the week Mamas! Are we look to finish the week strong, I want to encourage all of you to give this a try in moments of stress or frustration. β €β € This is something I have been working really mindfully on and notice a huge difference in my overall happiness and my ability to handle stress! β €β € When you are feeling stressed out or angry or (insert whatever emotion you are experiencing at the moment that you want to shift), try to think or even say out loud, “I am so grateful to be alive.” β €β € Say this phrase over and over until you feel yourself physically calming down. Couple this with some deep breaths for even more bang for your buck! β €β € This small phrase holds so much power! As you practice this more and more, you can start to replace “alive” with other meaningful words that relate to the moment you are in. β €β € For example, if the kiddos are pushing your last button or throwing a tantrum, you could say “I am grateful to be alive. I am grateful to be present. I am grateful for the chance to help ____ understand their emotions.” β €β € These simple phrases help you move from a heightened emotional state to a more calm and rational one. β €β € Happy #wisdomwednesday , get some rest, reflect on what you are grateful for, and wake up eager and excited for the gift of tomorrow! β €β € #thrivingchildrenareraisedbythrivingmamas #selfcarewithjessi

Rest, Mamas. You will be amazed at the difference it will make for your mind, body, soul and your relationships. Remember, our children follow our lead, and we wouldn’t expect nor want them to run themselves into the ground! So why do we expect and accept that for ourselves? Rest 🌿 recoup 🌿 repeat

Coffe 🌿 quiet 🌿 reflection 🌿 At the risk of sounding dramatic, my Mindful “Me” Hour has truly become my saving grace through my self-Care and mothering journey! It’s the hour (or 5 minutes because you know... #momlife ) that I dedicate to filling my cup each day. Today’s focus? Reflection journaling, with a whole lot of #gratitude. When I’m starting to feel overwhelmed and discouraged by my “lack of progress” in accomplishing what I set out to...gratitude connects me back to encouragement and fuels my motivation to keep going. Give it a try Mamas, and don’t think too small when it comes to what you have accomplished. Celebrating little wins along the way is what gets you closer to the big ones, πŸ’š
