Awesome #Repost from @emily__johnston ................ Read her concise, timely (and poignant) summation of her “ASH DRAWINGS“ project below — we’re so happy to have been asked to help with some of the work:
This ongoing project explores what emerges when I bring intention into play with elements out of my control... wind, weather, the passage of time. Beyond metaphor.
So much in the present moment in this country is putting us in touch with how little we can control. The behavior of others, the whims of the winds. And yet we always have an opportunity to try something, to apply our intention differently in response.
With fires raging on my treasured California hills, I share these drawings made with ash this week, with the hope that this time of « burning » in our country may wake us up in spirit and in body to consciously and actively honor one another and the land and creatures who inhabit it with us. Peace my friends, and keep reaching out to help those around you. Whether they’ve lost their home, their hope or their sense of compassion. #ltilightside#exhibitionprinting
Huge congratulations to that itinerant photographer (and good friend) @rob.hann on the publication of his new book Diesel Fried Chicken 🐔 (!) If you’ve ever travelled off the beaten path in this country (or better yet, if you haven’t) this collection of images will give you a sense of the magic Rob finds in “the spaces in between “ … a good reminder that there’s still way more to the USA than what we’ve all been caught up in lately ... #dieselfriedchicken@theartistedition#narayanapress#ltilightside
Hats 🎩 off to @edlachman and @jr on their commission for the 56th annual @thenyff official poster — an honor that puts him in with some heady company indeed. Ed asked us to help him out with a few details … but don’t think you can bribe us for answers to the contest asking to identify the eyes 👀 of the famous directors pictured in the poster (!) Here’s a few pics from last week at the @_james_clar opening of The World Never Ends at @janelombardgallery. We were lucky to contribute a small part to James’ sprawling, immersive presentation (and these frames don’t catch but a fraction of its entirety). So listen — the town is fairly lousy with art right now — but don’t miss this show, you won’t regret it (!) #theworldneverends#archivalpigmentprint#ltilightside
