acen2019 pt iii
This past weekend I attended anime central. What has initially started as a small getaway quickly turned into one of the biggest events of the year where I could geek out on a genre I've enjoyed since elementary school and reunite with friends I only ever get to see during that time. Past years have been sprinkled with many standout moments and it's undoubtedly been a significant part of my life to just experience them with people I liked.
If I'm being honest with myself though, I have felt since 2018 this searing feeling that I just can't relate to the scene anymore, or at least, am unable to enjoy the cons like I use to. Some of the people I use to link up with at this event have either gotten too busy for cons, or have simply fallen out of contact with me all together, for better or for worse. Panels aren't as fun to watch anymore and honestly, I'm not one to spend a ton on merch (I fuck with artist alley a lot tho). I don't even watch a lot of anime nowadays so I don't really get excited to see the 100th fate stay night cosplay etc. In short, what use to get me really excited every year has been a bit meh for me now. Idk if it's just me getting older or me not consuming anime like I use to.
Maybe I need a new crew of people to enjoy the cons with (which I definitely seem to be developing) or maybe I should just get out of the con scene all together. The only thing that's keeping me from doing that is meeting the new and chill faces of these events and being inspired by the many artists in artist alley making their bread and keeping my bedroom walls artsy. It was an interesting weekend and I hope 2020 ACEN will be better.
Shouts out to @apocalyss@kimchizzl@mirshroom@jpak4ever and @kiriska for all the advice! Your work is great!
