Normally I’m a very hungry (pun intended 🍔🍟😈), so I initially thought the Bronze Medallion course I began training for last week would be a shoe in. I went for my first big swim since I was 16 and I struggled big time! Got about 100m in and my confidence was destroyed. Gasping for air and taking heaps of rest. I got about 650m in roughly 45min. Then I planned to go for another swim yesterday, but before that I was hesitant. My wife said just pay for the course and book it in, you’ll be fine (I have less than 7 days LOL). Massive hesitation but I booked it in. Then went for a swim about an hour later thinking 'I need to do this now, not just is it possible but I NEED to do it.' I smashed the Bronze Medallion test in about 12 min 35 seconds (modified test, I didn’t do the proper test. I did an extra 75m freestyle and 25m back stroke instead of 100m side stroke). Then today/now I just smashed the full test 2 times in a row, I got 11 min 30 seconds first time, took 5min rest then got 11 min 35 seconds, just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke and/or my phone was correct haha. .
So, long boring story short is, just a simple mindset shift of making shit happen, not making excuses and just going 100% in the direction and not allowing failure to be an option is what life it really about. I was bloody nervous before all three of these sessions, no one was watching, I could’ve simply lied and made up some numbers but then I'd only be cheating myself. And at the end of the day no one really gives a shit about what you’re doing, they have too much of their own things going on. But I just want to just remind everyone (we all know it) but a positive mindset, though not always possible, is still better than shutting everyone and everything down around you. Keep hustling my friends 🤙

In my time as a mentor, I have often found that many people aspire for lofty goals but set terribly tiring ways to get there.

Goal setting works brilliantly in the reverse. If you need to get to Z, you need to have Y in place. To solidify Y, X needs to be flawless, and so on. It is the smaller steps that need to be worked out correctly to reach our larger goals. If we lay an improper foundation, we can never build that building we want to reside in. always remember that the steps you take, big and small must contribute to getting you where you want to be. Life is infinitely easier after that.
