Kate @visionarylifehakzmum ☀️✨🌻 is a very talented green fingers grower, we love Sunflower family, very important plants for our health and happiness ... they are great nutrition for a healthy brain and support insect life too. They are towering gentle giants. You don’t see them wear sun glasses when the sun is out ✨☀️✊🏾✨☀️🌻 They are all in sun worshippers. They are sad when know sun. ✨☀️🌻 The SunFlowers ✨☀️🌻 Come with me
into the field of sunflowers.
Their faces are burnished disks,
their dry spines
creak like ship masts,
their green leaves,
so heavy and many,
fill all day with the sticky
sugars of the sun.
Come with me
to visit the sunflowers,
they are shy
but want to be friends;
they have wonderful stories
of when they were young –
the important weather,
the wandering crows.
Don’t be afraid
to ask them questions!
Their bright faces,
which follow the sun,
will listen, and all
those rows of seeds –
each one a new life!
hope for a deeper acquaintance;
each of them, though it stands
in a crowd of many,
like a separate universe,
is lonely, the long work
of turning their lives
into a celebration
is not easy. Come
and let us talk with those modest faces,
the simple garments of leaves,
the coarse roots in the earth
so uprightly burning.-Mary Oliver ✨☀️🌻 #visionarylifehakz
I finally got my own bio project done lol 😂 I chose yarrow as my native plant and it's got some pretty cool backstory. It's scientific name is Achillea millefolium wich comes from the Greek hero Achilles. Apparently this plant was commonly used by Greek soldiers to stop bleeding and infection in wounds they sustained in battle. Yarrow was also commonly used my First Nation people and they have an extensive amount of uses for yarrow (stops nosebleeds, cures stomach aches and colds, relives pain and swelling, Etc...) Its a pretty cool plant but it's also a weed because of how aggressively it grows. Technically I could be considered an invasive species but it's still native so it's a little bit iffy on what it is where I live.
I would like to introduce my medicinal plant series!
This is Yarrow! Yarrow is amazing!
It is otherwise known as Achillea Millefolium and has been used medicinally since ancient times. It was found in a Neanderthal burial site in Iraq dating back to around 60,000 BC! It is a perennial and commonly grows to 3ft high in Europe, Asia, and the United States.
Yarrow is a versatile ally as it can work with almost every system of the body ♡ A few medicinal uses are as follows:
Yarrow is used externally to help stop or slow down bleeding from cuts and scrapes when applied as a compress or a poultice. The antiseptic and anti-inflammatory nature, as well as astringent tannins and resins, make it a wonder to work with! I have used it on myself to heal major wounds and can attest to the effectiveness.
Yarrow also works with your body internally to help with ailments such as: hemorrhaging, to lower high blood pressure by dilating peripheral blood vessels, as a treatment to feverish conditions at the start of a cold or flu, to help with cramps (as an antispasmodic and as it has sterols), and yarrow is often used to treat digestive complaints and disorders.
As a flower essence it is phenomenal as Yarrow has been richly endowed with spiritual properties. The essence is great for enforcing boundaries, psychic protection, and keeping the negative outside influences at bay.
I could go on and on about this powerful plant ally, but I will let you absorb this as a start. Hopefully this inspires you to explore the world around you!
I am currently making yarrow flower essence to carry in the studio ♡♡♡
🌿Has anyone noticed this plant growing in your area? It can be found in meadows, pastures, along roadsides, as well as homegrown in the garden. 🌼Yarrow (Achillea millefolium), a medicinal herb that has been used since ancient times for many different alignments! To name a few... 🌿Yarrow is know for its natural astringent and anti-inflammatory properties. Externally you can use the leaves to help staunch bleeding, reduce swelling, numb the pain, and act as an antiseptic for wounds, bruises, and sprains. You can make a quick first aid poultice by chewing up the fresh leaves in your mouth and applying it to your skin! Taken internally as a tea or tincture, yarrow helps to purify the blood, remove heat and toxins from the body by promoting sweating, making it great remedy to help alleviate colds and "break" fevers! 🌼This versatile herb is also a wonderful companion plant in the garden! Yarrows deep roots mine essential nutrients and minerials from the soil, making it a potent fertilizer that strengthens and protects the surrounding plants. It can also be chopped up to be used as a mulch or added to your compost. And you can't forget about the beautiful little flowers, which attract many beneficial bees, wasps, and butterflies!

Ive been working with #yarrow for almost a year now and it’s one of my favs (I say that about a lot of herbs lol), but really I love it so much I even used it in my SKn products for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties 🙌. It’s also great for protection, which is what I mainly use it for - to keep negative energy, people and THOUGHTS at bay. You can put some in your pocket, wear it in your hair ☺️, hang it on doors or just keep it around...It has been used in exorcisms - so ya this stuff can be POWERFUL 🙌. Since it’s ruled by Venus, it is also used for love Magick 💕💕💕💕- include it in any ritual/spell...you can get as complicated as your want or you can simply hold a piece while chanting/doin your thang. 🙏🙏💕 Fairies are drawn towards yarrow since the #flowers form perfect lil beds. 😍😍 •
When I was pulling the grass and other unwanted things this dandelion had an incredible root. I'm going to save it. This garden and the fence are where a gravel and rock old farm drive are. All the rocks must have kept it from making the usual long straight tap root that's so generally hard to pull the whole thing. I used to have a tool to get those loung ass roots out.
Even pesky flies are pollinators! Here on "Moonshine" yarrow.
